The article highlights the rights of local communities affected by mining in the DRC, emphasizing their recognition under international, regional, and national legal texts, particularly in matters of consultation, protection of customary lands, compensation, and benefit-sharing. Despite this legal framework, implementation after remains insufficient, exposing communities to displacement, environmental degradation, and limited redistribution of benefits, which makes it necessary to strengthen the effective protection of their rights.
