Abstract

This article examines the role of the notary in preventing land disputes in the RDC. It show that the notary secure land transactions by authenticating deeds and checking their legality, which helps reduce fraud and conflicts. However, this role remains limited by several practical difficulties, such as weak land title systems, the coexistence of statutory law and customary practices, and limited access to notarial services for some populations. In the end, the notary appears to be an important factor in legal security but his effectiveness depends on a better adaptation to local realities.
